Of all the processes that man has invented throughout the ages, photography, in my estimation, is man’s crowning achievement. The camera is almost like a portable time machine, seeing past, present and sometimes into the future. Photography is limitless in its boundaries. It is the purest of all art forms encompassing both details in light, shadow and form.
Just as the painter creates different worlds on his canvas, so does the photographer create different worlds with his camera. The photographer has no restrictions in his creativity and is only hampered by his own imagination.
An aspiring student of photography can go to school to learn the basics of photography, but no one can teach him how to develop his own ideas, this must come from within himself. He must learn by experience to create his own way of thinking in order to master the art of photography.
Photography, to me, is the greatest hobby in the world. It is a cure-all for those ills, and photography knows no age limit. You can’t get fired from photography, because it is a lifelong job, full of compensations, benefits and job security. You cannot be sad with photography because it brings a lot of happiness, joy and a sense of accomplishment to a lot of people throughout the world, and that’s why I love photography.
There are countless digital compact cameras out there, many of which look much the same and offer much the same functionality. So which one is right for you? That depends on what you plan to use it for and, of course, your budget. There are the most visible criteria, like the number of "megapixels", zoom range and what type of memory cards they use. Apart from these factors you need to think about, there are also more subtle distinguishing features that can greatly affect your choice. I am a fan of Canon, and here are the models I own:

For convenience, ease of use and no-compromise SLR performance, look no further than the EOS Digital Rebel XT. Featuring Canon’s Digital Trinity - an 8.0 Megapixel CMOS sensor, Canon’s own DIGIC II Image Processor and compatibility with over 50 EF Lenses - the new Digital Rebel XT has an all new lightweight and compact body, improved performance across the board and the easiest operation in its class, simplifying complex tasks and ensuring the perfect shot every time. With intuitive simplicity, powerful performance and unprecedented affordability, the Rebel XT is the EOS digital camera for everyone.

With its sinuous perpetual curve design elegantly clad in pure titanium, the PowerShot SD900 ELPH is visually arresting. But what’s inside is just as impressive: a powerful 10.0 megapixel CCD, 3x optical zoom and newly developed DIGIC III Image Processor. Top-level functionality puts you at the forefront of digital technology, with expanded low-light shooting capability, a built-in digital tele converter, and futuristic Face Detection technology for incredible group shots.
